Fashion shows are the nucleus of the entire fashion world because this is where all of the new styles are born. The most well known fashion shows occur in the fall and the spring, usually in New York City and Los Angeles. These events are referred to as fashion weeks and they are star studded events that everyone in the world wants to attend. During this time, the most well known and up and coming designers show off their new collections on the runway.

As a fashion designer you need to make connections in the industry in order to gain a good reputation amongst your peers. During these fashion shows, famous fashion stylists find the clothes that they want to dress celebrities in for their upcoming events. If a celebrity wears one of your dresses and is photographed then you can get international exposure.

Fashion shows take months of preparation because most designers design collections specifically with a fashion show in mind. Usually the newest fashion trends are the theme of the fashion shows so you will see many of the same fabrics and colors used throughout the shows.

Fashion shows are usually not open to the masses, only the who’s who of fashion and Hollywood are allowed to attend.
